The Tsonga story is a beautiful one... After cheap imported footwear flooded the South African market, many local shoe manufacturers were forced to close their doors. Experienced shoe maker and Tsonga’s founder, Peter Maree, saw an opportunity for a niche market in high-quality leather footwear with a uniquely African style and the comfort that only hand-stitching can provide.
Today, in the heart of the kingdom of the Zulu in South Africa, the Thread of Hope farm is the training centre for locals to learn skills in the manufacturing of leather footwear, including the hand stitching techniques of the local people.
The House of Shoes stock Tsonga each summer, so keep an eye out for new styles arriving at the end of each year.
